Foot and Ankle Injury Prevention
The most common foot and ankle injuries are sprained ankles, injuries
to the Achilles tendon, overuse injuries, and shin splints. Most mild
injuries are treated with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE).
Many injuries can be prevented through proper training techniques. In
addition,
warming up before activity, stretching every day, accompanying activity
with an appropriate strengthening program, and using proper shoes and
other equipment greatly reduce the incidence of injury.
