Minimal Scars
The evolution of ACL surgical techniques over the past several years has been
associated with a progressive decrease in the size of the incision. With the
advent of allograft and hamstring grafts, the principal incision was immediately
reduced to half it's size. Now the entire procedure can be accomplished with
two small portal scars and one slightly longer incision of 3/4 of an inch.
Minimally invasive doesn't just mean cosmetically better, it is also easier
on the skin and tissues. This, in turn, often translates to shorter recovery
times and increased mobility. ACL repair can and should be accomplished with
very small scars.
